Let's take a quick look at a map in order to find out why. See the green line halfway hidden under the purple one? That's my ideal—and usual—way home when coming from 101: take 87, exit Julian, pass under 87 on that little street and make a left onto Santa Clara, follow down to 14th, make a right, be home.
Now what's that purple line? Woooh! Looks like a big detour. Why? What for? Why would I drive from Santa Clara all the way north to catch 880 South at Coleman? Am I stupid or what?
Naah. It's just the cops cleaning up
downtown. From the moment I
made that left off of Santa Clara—my only choice at that point—I was stuck
all the way down to 880 South!
